RHS Garden Wisley
RHS Garden Wisley
A living landscape of seasonal gardens, biodiversity, and horticultural excellence
Location Wisley, UK
Our involvement with RHS Garden Wisley started with us reviewing and interpreting a number of feasibility studies that had been arranged before our appointment. Refining and analysing this information, together with a series of interviews of key staff members, allowed us to formulate an initial brief and a good overview of the project challenges and opportunities.
The project involved relocating the main entrance, opening up the east elevation of the previously concealed historic, Arts and Crafts, Laboratory Building and creating a series of spaces for visitors.
The design of new landscape provided clarity, encouraged free circulation and accommodated a range of different activities within the space. We also created the concept of the ‘Village Square’, a large space which is a focal point for visitors when they first enter the garden.
Flexibility, good services provision and robustness of the designed space allows the RHS to use it for retail display, food and beverage offers, temporary exhibitions, evening events, public flower shows, with vehicular and pedestrian circulation accessible to all.
