Members Hill, Weybridge

Contemporary later living rooted in the legacy of Britain’s first race circuit

Location Weybridge, UK

Nestled within the world-renowned Brooklands motor racing circuit in Weybridge, Member’s Hill seamlessly blends the past with the present. This integrated retirement community reimagines an existing office structure while introducing three new buildings, all set within a 10-acre sylvan landscape.

The architectural design draws inspiration from the site’s historic elements, including the pit lanes and Grandstand, reflecting the Art Deco era of Brooklands’ heyday. The project emphasizes sustainability, incorporating intensive green roofs, onsite renewable energy, and extensive planting to enhance biodiversity.

The landscape design pays homage to the ancient woodland setting, creating a vibrant environment that fosters community interaction. A new village square forms the heart of the development, offering a flexible space for events and daily activities. Pedestrian routes weave through the site, connecting residents to the woodland terrace and other communal areas, promoting accessibility and engagement with nature.

The design encourages incidental meetings among residents, fostering a sense of community both indoors and out. High-quality apartments provide stunning views of the surrounding ancient woodland and the Brooklands Race Circuit, integrating modern living with historical appreciation.
