Belgrove House

Belgrove House

Pioneering biophilc winter-gardens wrapped around a 10-storey office and laboratory building with terraces and roof garden

Location King's Cross, London

Belgrove House forms a major expansion of the King’s Cross Knowledge Quarter.

The design brief focused on physical and visual connections to plants throughout the building. Leading the project across all RIBA work BHS LA developed an innovative planting strategy for the upper four storeys.

This unheated winter garden, wrapped around the upper four stories of the building supports semi-hardy climbing plants. This biophilic climate buffer contributes to reducing operational energy consumption.

Securing planning consent in 2020, the development delivers widespread public realm and street improvements. The street-level intervention features:

A new, highly accessible entrance on Euston Road to King’s Cross Underground station.

Traffic-calmed corridors linking the station to its southern neighbourhoods via dedicated cycle lanes
Sustainable urban drainage systems, including pedestrian zones, rain gardens, and tree planting.

A prominent new public square opening up towards Argyle Square.
